2016/17 Adult/Masters Program
The Adult Progam has been put on hold until the club is able to find a qualified coach as Bob Putnam is unable to coach the program this year. We hope to still be able to offer it as part of the upcoming season. An e-mail will be sent out if this happens.
The Hollyburn Masters Ski Program (19+)
Under the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club is proud to promote skiing for life. The Hollyburn Masters Ski Program is aimed at intermediate and experienced skiers (no beginners please) who are interested in refining their technique, improving their fitness, skiing in a team environment, having fun, and maybe even entering a race or two. The sessions will be split between classical and skate techniques. Members are expected to supply their own equipment for both styles of skiing. Almost every training session will be held at Cypress Mountain Cross Country, with the potential for a few excursions to Whistler Olympic Park. Team members may also have the opportunity for coaching support at select competitions.
Sessions will be dedicated to developing better technique and training will revolve around a seasonal training plan aimed at preparing members for the 2017 P’ayak loppet.
Sundays 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
The Sunday sessions will focus on technique improvement and refinement. Team members will be broken into 2-3 groups to foster a better coach to athlete ratio. Each group will have 1-1.5 hrs of coached, small group, technique work. The rest of the session is dedicated to distance skiing aimed at creating an environment for socialized training.
Thursdays 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Thursday sessions will be coach-led workouts. The goals for each session will include a combination of ski specific strength, short aerobic intervals, anaerobic intervals, speed work and group skiing. These practices aim to provide a supportive environment for team members to train together and work towards individual fitness goals.
Here are some of the special events that can be fun to participate in if interested:
